About

Jason Powers is a marketing strategist who can also build what he plans. He writes the campaign, shoots and animates the video, designs the site, and codes the system behind it.

A South Florida native trained in visual communications, Jason has worked across nearly every discipline in marketing: national broadcast campaigns, brand identity, websites and search, 3D animation, packaging, outdoor advertising and the software that ties it together. His entertainment work carries credits from Lucasfilm, Warner Bros. and Paramount.

As VP of Marketing & Technology at Zoom Tan, he spent nine years running both functions while the franchise grew from 3 locations to more than 100, producing broadcast campaigns in-house and building the company's own customer, text-messaging and point-of-sale platforms.

Today he leads marketing and technology for Knoxville's Loudon County Fence, runs the agency Powers Advertising, and writes the Marketing Without the Agency series of field guides for small-business owners. On the side he publishes fiction, makes games, and builds websites that largely run themselves.

Known for

Four threads run through his work: growth, plain-spoken advice, automation and storytelling.

i.

Scaling a franchise from 3 to 100+ locations

At Zoom Tan, Jason ran marketing and technology together for nine years. His team produced national TV campaigns without an outside agency and built the company's own CRM, SMS marketing platform and three generations of point-of-sale systems.

He started as the platform's only developer and grew the organization to about ten developers, an IT support team and a marketing team.

ii.

Marketing advice without the hype

His Marketing Without the Agency series gives small-business owners numbered rules, honest costs and a worksheet for every chapter. The premise is simple: most owners don't need more ads. They need to be easier to find, easier to pick and easier to call.

iii.

Businesses that run themselves

Jason designs AI-driven systems that do the daily work of a media company or agency. Radazoid finds what's trending, writes, illustrates and publishes every day. Find Knoxville answers local questions from its own data and turns every answer into a page. Powers Advertising's AI receptionist answers a business's missed calls.

He uses these as working labs. What earns attention in his own sites is what he recommends to clients.

iv.

Stories, games and animation

He writes the Glitches sci-fi series for young readers and is at work on a philosophical thriller and a dark fantasy novel. Under the Powers Digital Studios label he released Commuter Carnage, an arcade driving game, and is building a Victorian haunted-mansion shooter starring Nikola Tesla's ghost-disruptor.

His animated Fence Man character fronts a local company's video series.

The books

Business guides, fiction for young readers, and original coloring and large-print puzzle books, all available on Amazon.

Marketing Without the Agency · Book 1

The Phone Should Be Ringing

21 straight rules for getting found, getting picked and getting called.

Written for owners who are good at their trade and tired of paying for marketing that doesn't work. Each rule comes with a straight answer, a story from the field and something to do today. Followed by Don't Buy Ads Yet, on advertising with a small budget, and Found by the Machines, on AI search.

Ideas

What if the brain doesn't make consciousness, but receives it?

Away from marketing, Jason thinks and writes about consciousness and the nature of reality. He's drawn to the possibility that awareness is fundamental, that individual minds are concentrations of something larger, and that the world's religions may describe the same truth from different windows.

He treats it honestly as speculation: a "maybe, might be, this suggests" approach that starts from what physics actually says and asks what it could imply. Those ideas drive his thriller The Devil Himself, about a government inspector who meets something ancient beneath a particle-physics lab, and a nonfiction book in development.
